Hey there, petrolheads! We're looking at the top 5 car events in the UK in 2025. Let's kick things off with one of the most iconic car events in the UK – the Goodwood Festival of Speed (FOS). If you're a fan of motorsport history, cars and cutting-edge technology, this event is a must-visit.
Held annually at the stunning Goodwood Estate in West Sussex, the Festival of Speed is a celebration of everything fast and furious. From vintage race cars to the latest supercars, you'll find it all here. The event has a rich history and has become a pilgrimage site for car enthusiasts from around the world.
What makes Goodwood so special?
For starters, there's the famous Hillclimb, where cars from different eras race up a challenging course. It's a thrilling spectacle that you won't want to miss. Then there's the Future Lab, an innovation pavilion showcasing groundbreaking technology – think flying cars and autonomous vehicles. OEMs and independents will have stands and exhibits to attract you in, and we find them the most fun. In the last few years, BMW, Singer and Porsche have been really good. Go to the McLaren stand too! The best part for us is the Super Paddock, it's a must!! Time it right and you will get to see the most incredible cars leave the paddock or arrive back from their hillclimb. It's a great opportunity to see these magnificent machines up close and hear those engines start up too!
Tips for Goodwood Festival of Speed:
If you can, go Friday-Saturday, and Sunday is very busy. Allow plenty of time, there is always traffic. Get there early. As soon as we arrive, we go get some breakfast (it's not cheap). Top Tip - don't forget to check out the car parks (all of them) for some nice cars, we saw some of the best cars there in the normal car park. The VIP one is good too. After breakfast, for those of you who like a drink, head to the champagne kiosk and get some bubbly. With the crowd we go with, this allows the drivers to have a couple of glasses and still be OK to drive home at the end of the day. Make sure you go to the loo before you leave and have supplies for your journey home, there is always traffic!
What to Wear at Goodwood Festival of Speed:
Comfort is key when attending Goodwood. You'll be doing a lot of walking, so sturdy, comfortable shoes are a must. Dress in casual, light layers that you can adjust depending on the weather. A hat and sunglasses will help protect you from the sun, and don't forget a car-themed T-shirt. It's a great conversation starter and shows off your passion for cars!
What to Take to Goodwood Festival of Speed:
To make the most of your day, pack some essentials. Sunscreen and a hat will keep you protected from the sun, while a lightweight rain jacket or poncho will come in handy if the weather turns. Bring a camera to capture all the amazing cars and moments, and consider ear protection – those engines can be loud!
Goodwood Festival of Speed is an event like no other, offering a unique blend of history, innovation, and fun. Whether you're a seasoned petrolhead or just getting into the scene, it's an experience you won't forget.
