The Thrills and Drama of the Mexico City GP: Title Race Heats Up Ahead of Brazil

The Mexico City Grand Prix delivered all the adrenaline-pumping action F1 fans crave, with twists, turns, and plenty of drama on the high-altitude Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. As the championship battle intensifies, this race was a pivotal chapter in the 2025 title saga.

Race Highlights:
Lando Norris made headlines by taking the lead in the title race to a mixed reaction from the crowd during the post-race interviews and podium celebrations. Norris’s performance was a masterclass in grit and determination, even if some fans weren’t quite ready to cheer him on, as seen in the boos that echoed around the stadium section. This moment added an extra layer of tension and narrative to what’s shaping up to be one of the most exciting seasons in recent memory.

Max Verstappen once again showed why he’s a force to be reckoned with, battling fiercely for the lead and thrilling fans at the start. Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton faced a harsh penalty after a controversial incident, which shook up the race and dashed his hopes for a strong finish. The penalty was a tough blow for Hamilton and added fuel to the fierce competition unfolding this season.

Not to be overlooked, Ollie Bearman put in a standout performance, hanging tough to secure a solid 4th place finish. His drive showcased impressive skill and composure, marking him as a rising star to watch in the closing stages of the season.

Just as the Mexico City GP was building toward a nail-biting final lap showdown for second place, a late Virtual Safety Car (VSC) threw a wrench in the works. Carlos Sainz’s spin parked his Williams safely in an escape road in the stadium section, but the VSC neutralised the action and robbed fans of a potential last-lap duel between Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc. With Max charging hard on fresher soft tyres and clearly the faster car, a pass for second seemed almost inevitable—something Leclerc himself looked visibly relieved to avoid.
The VSC left many fans confused and frustrated, especially given earlier safety concerns when two marshals narrowly avoided being hit by Liam Lawson’s Racing Bull while clearing debris. We’ll never know if Max could have snatched second, but the stage was set for fireworks that fizzled out under the VSC.

Looking Ahead to Brazil:
Less than two weeks until the Brazilian Grand Prix on 9th November, the excitement is already building. The iconic Interlagos circuit promises more high-speed battles, unpredictable weather, and the passionate atmosphere that makes it a fan favourite. As the title race tightens, every point will count, and none of the top 3 drivers can afford to slip up.
